Dr. Sahil Gaba is a leading orthopaedic surgeon for MAKO robotic surgery for hip and knee replacement in India. With over eight years of clinical experience following his postgraduate training, Dr. Gaba brings a combination of international accreditations, training, and hands-on surgical expertise to his role as Consultant and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at Amrita Hospitals.

He earned his Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics from the Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur. He then served for three years as a Senior Resident at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India’s premier medical institution, where he developed a deep interest in joint replacement procedures. His clinical work has been consistently complemented by his academic rigor, with over 35 publications in reputed national and international medical journals and multiple authored book chapters.

Dr. Gaba pursued advanced international training through fellowships in Australia and the United Kingdom. He completed a dedicated Hip Surgery Fellowship in Melbourne, followed by a travelling fellowship in Pune under the Rajasthan Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Association. In 2018, he moved to Aberdeen, UK, where he underwent three orthopaedic fellowships at NHS Grampian, working at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the high-volume, ring-fenced Woodend Hospital for elective orthopaedic procedures.

A significant milestone in his career came in 2021 when Dr. Gaba was selected for the UK’s first dedicated Robotic Hip and Knee Fellowship Programme, becoming the first Indian orthopaedic surgeon to complete a year-long robotic fellowship in the UK. He further earned his Robotics Certification from Cambridge, UK. His training included mastery of cutting-edge procedures like:
